Want to get perfect designs with stencils everytime?
No bleeding or smudged paint?
Stencils! They can add brilliant detailed texture that customers think you painted yourself. Or perhaps a cartoon character you would struggle to paint freehand. Such a great add on to your face painting. But only if they work they way you want them to!
A common experience is the image bleeds! This means the paint goes under the stencil and smudges the image. No! We want crisp perfect outlines. But how? You tried a brush, that was a diaster. The bristles dipped under the stencil and looked terrible. So you used your face painting sponge. And that still looked awful!

We have a secret. It’s smoothie blenders.
Use a make up smoothie blender like this one. Smoothie blenders are designed for make up. So they pick up less paint, and less paint is applied on the skin. Which is not ideal for face painting…. But perfect for using stencils!
Less paint means less chance of bleeding or colours getting under the edges of the stencil. The actual sponge has a different density to face painting sponges. You'll find they work much easier.
You can also use finger daubers which are made of a similiar density. Finger daubers are easy to use and super cheap to buy. Tip: Sweep through a splitcake/one stroke and then swirl the dauber on the face. You'll make a beautiful gem style look that is great as a focal point in a design.
Next secret is less is more. Spray your smoothie blender with water, load up your colour, and dab gently over the stencil. Allow the colour to build up. You ll get a smooth even stencil outline every time! 🥰
Our favourite stencils are the Di-Yeah keyring stencils. With a HUGE range of textures, images and more these stencils are amazing value. Diyeah Stencils are exclusive to The Face Paint Shop. Fun modern stencils especially designed for face painters, you'll find Christmas themes, Frozen, butterflies and heaps of unicorns.
